The third annual Battle for the Brain brought together employees from some of the city’s top businesses to showcase an un-business-like skill: lip syncing.
The fun raised awareness and support for Emory University’s Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center that works to solve the riddles of Alzheimer’s and dementia, and to find effective prevention and treatment options. The February event, sponsored by the nonprofit Daughters Against Alzheimer’s, showcased 10 high-energy and often hilarious performances by teams from Delta Air Lines, Dorsey Alston Realtors, Morgan Stanley, Steve Penley Art, the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders and more. While they rocked the Coca-Cola Roxy, they also pushed the total raised in the last three years to more than $1.3 million. The goal is to raise $10 million to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s by 2025.

Cobb County, GA. - If last night’s premiere of "The Masked Singer" has you in the mood for more colorful, energetic, and downright bonkers live performances an event at the Coca-Cola Roxy later this week will easily fit the bill. The 3rd Annual Battle for the Brain is happening at the Cobb County venue this Thursday, February 6th at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.).
The annual event is presented by Daughter’s Against Alzheimer’s, a non-profit which supports medical research related to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and the money raised will go to Emory University’s Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Now, to the fun part. Battle for the Brain is a lip-sync competition during which teams of performers from some of Atlanta’s top organizations (including the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, Delta Air Lines, and Morgan Stanley) compete with full-scale performances of popular songs.

The second annual Battle for the Brain was held on January 17, 2019 at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre! Over a thousand people gathered for a powerful and entertaining evening at Atlanta’s hottest new venue. Hosted by Daughters Against Alzheimer’s, the exciting charity event involves an epic lip sync competition among some of Atlanta’s finest including the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders, Delta Air Lines, Dorsey Alston Realtors, Forever Miss Georgias, Modern Luxury, Morgan Stanley, Ryder, SculptHouse and Steve Penley featuring the SEEiT Choir. Performers competed for the Judges’ Choice Award (scores) and the People’s Choice Award (dollars raised). Andruw Jones, Kaedy Kiely, Stacey Leebern and Laura Turner Seydel served as this year’s celebrity judges. And, emcees, Tom Sullivan and Kelsey Wingert, were introduced by special guest performer and lip sync instagram star, Tribble Reese! After months of rehearsals and fundraising, Delta Air Lines took home the People’s Choice award with an extraordinary rendition of “This is Me” from The Greatest Showman. Morgan Stanley and Modern Luxury’s own “Mod Squad” shared the Judges’ Choice award with a heroic interpretation of Guns N’ Roses and a spectacular medley of songs through the last several decades respectively. Ultimately, everyone was a winner as almost half a million dollars was raised to benefit Emory’s Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center!

METRO ATLANTA CEO: Morgan Stanley Battles It Out for Brain Research
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management professionals participated in the second annual Battle for the Brain lip sync competition on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Coca-Cola Roxy. The evening featured nine local acts taking the stage to compete while raising about $450,000 to benefit Emory University’s Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
This is the second year Morgan Stanley has participated in the Battle for the Brain event. The firm’s team competed as the rock band Guns ’N Roses and performed a medley of its hit songs. The team was victorious, tying for the coveted Judges’ Choice award and raising over $32,000 for the cause.
“Our firm encourages its employees to give back to the community both financially and through firm-sponsored volunteer projects that take place year-round,” said Max Hilsman, Buckhead Complex Manager and Battle for the Brain participant. “Our philanthropic work is no different; we combine the firm’s top talents, business acumen and charitable resources to create meaningful and long-lasting impact for our communities.”
The firm’s participation was recognized by the event’s organizers. “We are grateful for Morgan Stanley’s commitment to this cause and look forward to partnering with them for our next event,” said Michelle Usey, co-founder of Daughter’s Against Alzheimer’s and Battle for the Brain organizer.

Northside Neighbor: Morgan Stanley gives back
Posing as the iconic rock band Guns N’ Roses, the team from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s Buckhead office earned a Judges’ Choice award and raised over $32,000 for Alzheimer’s disease research in the second Battle for the Brain lip sync competition at the Coca-Cola Roxy at The Battery Atlanta in southeast Cobb County. Also, local artist Steve Penley sketched images on stage during the entire competition, and afterwards, his works were auctioned off to help fight Alzheimer’s.
